Amanda Daniel

Amanda is a new Trustee appointment to the WaALHN. She is the Nurse Lead for Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) in the Community for Public health Wales. Her heritage is from Calcutta, India where both her parents were born before migrating to the UK.

Her background is in Tropical and Infectious diseases, Health Protection and Infection Prevention and Control. Amanda has a keen interest in neglected tropical diseases and has worked internationally with a number of NGOs in India and Bangladesh to work collaboratively on reducing infection and managing skin care for people with Hansen’s disease and Lymphatic Filariasis, She was the Lead Clinical Nurse Specialist at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases in London for 6 years. In 2010, Amanda worked with the Ministry of Health in Cambodia through Voluntary Services Overseas to Co-develop National Training in Infection Prevention and Control. Working for Public Health England, she was seconded to work with the WHO during the Ebola Virus Disease outbreak in 2014-2016 and was involved in a preparedness visit to Ethiopia and IPC training in Sierra Leone, West Africa. More recently, Amanda undertook the ILO through Welsh Government and worked with the health care team in East Africa to look at infection rates and antimicrobial prescribing. She is also a reservist for the UKHSA rapid support team for IPC.
