Prof. Ewan Wilkinson
Ewan originally trained as a GP but while working as a District Health Officer for six years in Malawi he realised there was more to creating a healthy community than giving out tablets. He then specialised in Public Health Medicine and worked at senior level in the NHS in Liverpool.
He is a Fellow of the Faculty of Public Health.
He is semi-retired. He has been CEO of a small charity promoting access to community mental health services amongst 25 partner private-not-for-profit hospitals in Uganda for the last ten years. He is also involved in a WHO project teaching operational research in low- and middle-income countries enabling relatively junior staff from these countries to become first authors on peer reviewed papers.
